Hungarian swimmers performed really well in the European Junior Championships in Hódmezővásárhely: they won 5 gold, 4 silver and 3 bronze medals, and finished fourth in the medal table behind Russia, Italy and the UK. Last year Hungarian athletes gained only two silver and one bronze medal in the same competition. These are the best images of the EC. We can definitely meet most of these young talents in the 2019 FINA World Junior Swimming Championships, in the 2020 European Championships, and even next year in the FINA World Championships. All of these competitions will be held in Hungary.
Ajna Késely won her first gold on the first day of the ECH in 800 m freestyle.
Kristóf Milák was one of the surprise men of the ECH: he finished on first place in 200 m butterfly.
Olympic, world and European champion Dániel Gyurta this time handed over the medals. In Rio will he be a recipient?
In the 4x100 m mixed relay competition the Hungarian team (Nándor Németh, Richárd Márton, Fanni Gyurinovics and Ajna Késely) finished second behind Russia.
The Hungarian supporters performed well too…
Richárd Márton finished third in 200 and 400 m freestyle, and second in the 4x100 m mixed relay competition.
5-time olympic champion Krisztina Egerszegi was also present in Hódmezővásárhely.
Márton Barta (r.) won silver, and Zoltán Drigán bronze in 400 m medley.
Hungarian team with Fanni Gyurinovics, Janka Juhász, Petra Barócsai and Ajna Késely was the fastest in the 4x200 m freestyle relay.
Ajna Késely was the queen of the ECH with four gold medals!
The happy Hungarian team!
