Hungarian women’s water polo team have returned from the United States and continue preparing for the olympic games in Budapest. The reigning European champions played three matches against the winner of the last olympics, and they lost all of them, head coach Attila Bíró, however, is not worrying about the results.
„We have been working very hard in the last five weeks, the American tour was part of it. We played against the best team of the world, there is no point in being in despair, because we have been doing a different form of preparation, while they are already in top form” – Bíró said.
The head coach have not named his squad for the olympics yet, he will announce it next Friday.
„I still have some questions in my head, one is referring to the goalkeepers. We have three excellent goalies, each of them will play one match in next week’s BENU Cup in Budapest. Furthermore, I am looking for universal players who are defending and attacking well, too. In today’s water polo you need these kind of players in order to have good results.”
The Hungarian team meet Italy, Australia and Spain in the BENU Cup, which will be an international tournament for both women and men in the Margaret Island.
