Dr Dénes Kemény thinks nuances will decide who will win the gold medal in the water polo tournaments of the olympic games. Former head coach of the Hungarian men’s national team, now president of the Hungarian Water Polo Federation is looking forward to hosting top teams in Budapest next week in the BENU Cup men’s and women’s international event.
„Water polo has been in the center of attention in Hungary for a long time. During the 2012 olympics the six most watched programs in the Hungarian TV were all water polo matches, with women’s matches among them.”
Dr Kemény has no expectations, but of course he hopes for the best relating the chances of the Hungarian teams.
„When I was head coach of the men’s team, the president did not have any expectations, he did not put any pressure on us, but we always tried to do our best. That was the point. Regarding the olympics: I think nuances will decide who will win, like it happened in the semi-finals of the football European Championship” – the president said.
Dr Dénes Kemény won the three olympic gold medals (2000 in Sydney, 2004 in Athens and 2008 in Beijing) with team Hungary.
