Water polo: roster of hosting women’s team Hungary announced

Head coach Attila Bíró has announced the names of those 13 players who will enter the 17th FINA World Championships water polo tournament.

Accordingly, the Hungarian team commencing the tournament on 16 July will comprise of:

Goalkeepers: Edina Gangl, Orsolya Kasó

Field players: Dóra Antal, Barbara Bujka, Dóra Czigány, Dóra Csabai, Gréta Gurisatti, Anna Illés, Rita Keszthelyi, Dorottya Szilágyi, Gabriella Szücs, Orsolya Takács, Ildikó Tóth

Eleven members of the team played in Rio, as well, the World Champs team features two newcomers Dorottya Szilágyi and Gréta Gurisatti, they are about to enter their first major international tournament. Compared to the roaster in Rio, Krisztina Garda will not be involved in the World Champs this summer and Hanna Kisteleki was not included in the extended roaster either.  

At the previous World Championships in Kazan the Hungarian team was placed 9th, then they won the European Championships in Beograd and finally they finished 4th at the Olympics.

Prior to the World Championships the team will enter an international tournament in Miskolctapolca playing Australia, New-Zealand and world champion title holder team US. The Vodafone Cup will take place between 5 and 7 July.
