As the official national transport partner of the 17th FINA World Championships MÁV-Start Zrt. contributes to providing convenient transport services for the participants, volunteers and fans of the World Championships. Details about the agreement concluded by the transport company and BP2017 LLC (in charge of conducting the event) were announced on Monday at Keleti Railway Station where the tram decorated with World Championships design elements was also displayed. MÁV-Start Zrt. provides dedicated train services to Balatonfüred during the World Masters Championships in August.
Those passing by the hall of Keleti Railway Station this Monday could witness a highly spectacular happening when at 10 o’clock a Taurus train (with two carriages) decorated with World Championships design elements appeared at platform no. 9 promoting the greatest sporting event in the history of Hungary up until the end of summer.
This is not the only form of contribution by MÁV-Start Zrt., but the company offers significant discounts for the participants, volunteers and fans of the World Champs.
In accordance with the agreement MÁV-Start Zrt. – as the primary transport partner- provides 50% discount on train tickets for holders of World Champs tickets (when purchasing train tickets one shall show their ticket for the World Champs, the train ticket shall be stamped at a World Champs venue and then it will be valid for the return trip, as well).
MÁV-Start Zrt. would like to contribute to the work of volunteers by offering all 3500 of them five return tickets per person free of charge between their place of residence and Budapest as well as Balatonfüred.
The Organising Committee is very grateful for MÁV-Start Zrt. for offering transport services for the participants and accredited persons of the World Masters Championships to the open water events this August free of charge: 2 trains (with 7 carriages) will run in the morning from Déli Railway Station to Balaton and the way back in the evening. It is great help concerning that so far more than 1000 athletes have registered for the open water events of the World Masters Champs and this huge amount of people could not manage their travelling smoothly in any other way.
At the press conference on Monday Ilona Dávid, President and CEO of MÁV Zrt. and András Csépke, CEO of MÁV-Start Zrt. have told that in line with societal engagement commitments both companies promote and support major events hosted by Hungary on a regular basis and at the same time they feel honoured to express the appreciation of the railway company towards athletes entering the World Championships. In addition, they are glad about the increasing number of passengers, as well.
Csépke András added that national and international train tickets will be available for purchase both in Duna Arena and on Margaret Island, whereas in Balatonfüred there will be a temporary box office for ticket sales.
Éva Szántó, Executive Director at Bp2017 LLC. pointed out that organising the World Championships is such a complex undertaking that any external help matters a lot and the aim is to provide high quality services to fans.
Olympic champion, three-time world champion silver medallist swimmer, World Championships ambassador Éva Risztov attended the event at the railway station and emphasized how great it is that the decorated train will promote the World Championships. She added that in her view it is likely that the event would be an extraordinary one due to the unique venues and conduct. Balatonfüred is quite special for her as she attaches nice memories of wonderful competitions hosted by the city. Also, she encourages everyone to go and cheer Hungarian athletes this summer.
Attila Vári, two-time Olympic champion, world champion water polo player pointed out that he attended the press conference for two reasons. For one thing he is a member of the team organising the World Masters Championships, for another thing he will play in the team composed of former Olympic champion water players entering the Masters water polo tournament. He noted that hundreds of people are busy organising the World Championships behind the scenes and the success of the event may be subject to nuisances, as well. In his experience, however, transport and logistics are definitely not nuisances but one of the major factors at such an event therefore the significant support by MÁV-Start Zrt. is especially welcome.
