András Hargitay is convinced there are a lot of talented young swimmers in Hungary, but their way to success is very long and tiring. Head coach of the Hungarian national swimming team has met members of the ’Champions of the Future’ programme in Debrecen, and made a speech for them after a regional competition.

„Such an event is a great experience for the youngsters, we tried to create the same conditions for them that are normal in every big competition. They could not only compete for themselves, but also for their team, and that’s a nice feeling” – the former world and European champion said.

„The ’Champions of the Future’ is a programme, that is good to belong to, so the kids proudly wear the yellow T-shirt. It is very-very hard to become a real champion for someone who is said to be talented, but this initiative tries to help them in that.”

Hargitay thinks there are a couple of big talents, who have been members of this programme, and have a chance to achieve some good results in next year’s European Youth Olympic Festival in Győr, in the 2019 FINA World Junior Swimming Championships and the 2020 European Aquatics Championships (both will be held in Hungary as well), like Ajna Késely, Kristóf Milák and Dániel Sós. Késely could shine even in the 2017 FINA World Championships in Budapest.
