Hungarian medallists of the 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games were honoured in the House of Parliament on Friday. The athletes, including swimmers, and their coaches were greeted by prime minister Viktor Orbán, head of state János Áder and speaker of the national assembly László Kövér.

Hungary won 3 gold, 2 silver and 2 bronze medals in the Olympics by Katinka Hosszú, László Cseh, Tamás Kenderesi and Boglárka Kapás. In the Paralympics Tamás Tóth won one gold and one bronze medal, Bianka Pap and Tamás Sors one silver and one gold each, while Zsófia Konkoly one bronze medal.

„The successes of the Olympics and the Paralympics connect the Hungarians” – Viktor Orbán said in the ceremony.

On Saturday the Hungarian Swimming Federation held a meeting in honour of the heroes of Rio on Margaret Island. Among others Boglárka Kapás, Tamás Kenderesi, Liliána Szilágyi and Dávid Verrasztó were present in the event.
