One of the most successful and popular Fernch swimmers of the past decade, Camille Lacourt has concluded his career is sport by clinching gold in 50m backstroke on the closing day of the 17th FINA World Championships. He claimed his fifth world title in Budapest, bookending his career. Almost a month after the World Championships he was still stunned by the tournament in Budapest when he gave the following interview to Bp2017.

Extreme swimmer among the referees in Balatonfüred

Hungarian long distance swimmer Attila Mányoki has a key role in the open water competition of the FINA World Masters Championships in Balatonfüred. The 44-year-old athlete, who is member of the Hall of Fame of Marathon Swimmers, works as a referee during the races, and he also takes part in the medal ceremonies.

17th FINA World Championships closes with a contemporary circus and dance performance of great success

The biggest sport event of Hungarian history, the 17th FINA World Championships was closed by a spectacular contemporary circus and dance show on Sunday, July 30th, 2017. The stunning closing ceremony that started at 10:00 p.m. celebrated the exceptional performance of our sportsmen and sportswomen, the work of volunteers and all those who contributed. The closing ceremony was attended by thousands of people who followed the event both on the spot and on screens.

It has been a few days that the 17th FINA World Championships open water swimming events have been over in Balatonfüred. Many of the competitors have travelled home, others still compete at Duna Arena. Buildings by the lake are emptied out. Those who were at the competition for six days could go home with a lot of unforgettable memories and it is not an exaggeration to say that the audience couldn’t have seen a more up to par open water race than this one.
