Attila Bíró is optimistic. The head coach of the Hungarian women’s national water polo team named his squad for the Olympic Games earlier this month, and he thinks the players now can fully focus on the big tournament.
„There is no official goal for the Olympics, but of course we have been talking about it with the girls, and we would love to win a medal. Most of the teams are almost equally strong, with the exception of the Brazilians. Everyone can beat everyone, so it is impossible to foretell the results. The majority of the group has already experienced what the Olympic Games means, so the atmosphere will be familiar for them.” – Bíró said.
Centre of the team Barbara Bujka is not happy about the poor results in recent preparation games, but she is not worried at all.
„Attila Bíró built up the preparation plan properly, and it is working. The results in this period are not really important, we have to be in top form in Rio, not now. I would be disappointed if we did not finish on the podium”.
Hungary start the Games against China on 8 August.
