The FINA World Championships now have four more water polo teams qualified following the conclusion of the 10th Asian Championships.

Eight men teams competed in two groups at the Metropolitan Gymnasium Pool in Tokyo and the final result was not surprising. In group A Kazakhstan won all games, while in group B Japan was dominant.

In the final Japan took gold, while Kazakhstan returned home second – both teams with their tickets to Budapest booked.

In the women’s tournament seven teams fought for the first two positions, everyone played with everyone. China produced 100 per cent performance, and won the Championships in front of Japan and Kazakshtan.

According to the FINA rules two Asian teams qualify for the World Championships, however, China has the right to participate in Budapest based on the team’s Olympics performance, so third position Kazakhstan also travels to the World Championships next summer.
