The lay-down of the corner stone of the new Swimming Complex to be used at the 2017 FINA World Championships took place just around a year and a half before, with the participation of President Dr. Julio C. Maglione and Executive Director Cornel Marculescu and further leaders of FINA.

The Hungarian Swimming Association organises its open national championships from April 19 to 23 in 2017 – already at the new swimming complex built for the FINA World Championships. Invitations to compete at the brand new, fantastic venue with seating capacity of 15,000, have already been sent out to all 207 FINA member federations.

It is the firm intent of the organisers of the World Championships to provide an opportunity for as many great swimmers as possible to be able to test the new swimming pool, be able to ‘taste the water’ in which they will compete in July.

To make the event even more tempting to competitors, the World Championships’ Organising Committee offers prize money to the best athletes: 1500-1000-500 USD to each event’s first, second and third placed swimmers respectively.

The festive opening ceremony and inauguration taking place on April 19 will feature a women’s World League game between Hungary and Italy, a top level international men’s water polo match and diving and synchro spectacles

Further information on the event will be continuously provided.
